• Import tariffs

The US has once again imposed additional import tariffs on 60 trading partners. It is becoming increasingly clear that as a company and as a country, you are better off without dependence on the US. The question now is how these countries will respond to the US. These additional import duties affect more than 99% of everything the US imports. Ultimately, therefore, American consumers and businesses are paying more.

Canada's import tariffs went into effect last night. This is in response to the previously introduced US import tariffs. Canada is implementing the tariffs in a highly targeted manner to hit the red US states as hard as possible, while Democratic states remain virtually unaffected. In doing so, Canada is opting for import tariffs on products that it also produces itself, or that it can obtain elsewhere in the world. Furthermore, Canada now appears to be truly choosing the Gripen, and in doing so, the US is missing out on a multi-billion dollar contract.
